In follow up to the article about the 20% OFF Customer Appreciation Event today at Shoppers Drug Mart, I’m pleased to report that I had a successful trip!  I was able to get some items that rarely (if ever) go on sale for 44% OFF and I love how the receipts look when there’s a sale like this – they show how much you saved on each item in addition to the coupons which makes it even easier for me to share details of my trip with y’all!

I got:

  • 2x4L Neilson Milk $3.30 (reg $4.13)
  • Gillette Proglide refills $15.19 (reg $23.99) using the $4 OFF coupon that came with the FREE sample
  • Children’s Tylenol $$4.19 (reg  $8.99) using the $3 OFF Living Well printable coupon.  I should have printed off 2 coupons though to earn the bonus 2,000 points.  Drats!
  • Quo eyelash adhesive $4.40 (reg $5.50)
  • 3x Carlton Cards $1.12 (reg $3.49) using the $5 OFF printable coupon
  • SmartBread $1.40 (reg $2.69) using the $.75 OFF WebSaver coupon
  • Pledge Polish $$3.79 (reg $5.99) using the $1 OFF coupon – not sure where I got that one, sorry!
  • A bag of Pop Chips which were on sale for $2.69 so didn’t qualify for the 20% off discount but were much appreciated by Hubs who had to suffer through an hour of Extreme Couponing on TLC while I monopolized the TV AND the computer during our LIVE facebook chat over on the Canadian Coupons facebook community!  Join us next time if you missed it … it’s a lot of fun!

And since I bought a Shoppers Drug Mart gift card to cover my purchase, I earned 2xs the regular Optimum points for a total of 1,100 points which will be worth $2.86 at the much anticipated (but not yet confirmed on any official communcation from Shoppers Drug Mart!) Mega Redemption event coming up in December.

My subtotal was $41.55 for $68.48 worth of product.  That’s 40% savings including coupons and a combined savings of 44% if I factor in the points that I earned.

I often save 80% or more at Shoppers Drug Mart so today’s trip isn’t one for the records or anywhere near “extreme”, but considering that it’s for products that we needed and that milk and cards really don’t ever go on sale, I’m pleased to have saved some money.  And check out how funny this birthday card is!
