1. I wish to thank you for the extremely well explained article here, as more and more restrictions creep up on our coupons. Very well done.
2. I also have been doing this for years and my reasons are as
follows:(1) I try to always put myself in the shoes of the cashier (I need to deal with one person; they on the other hand deal with multiple people day in and day out, many people are courteous but other people not so courteous. And all it takes is one or two people to spoil their day. I, on the other hand, wish for them to remember me as a good, decent, courteous customer.
(2) Just last week, as I had my coupons and my products all organized in order in my basket and then on the belt line, I was actually commented both by the cashier AND the customer behind me as to how organized I was. Ironically, the customer behind me even said she does not mind being behind a couponer such as myself as when I asked her why so, she commented that it shows in my organization that I am thinking of both she (customer) behind me and the cashier. She was absolutely right on the money.
(3) It also makes my life easier after the fact, when I am reviewing my receipt compared to my products and coupons deducted.
It’s a win/win all around for everyone.
3. Minutes of our time goes a lot further than we ever realize.
Thank you again for your article. I love it, have printed off same for my own future quick reference.

Very useful article! Thanks. I also put all of my items for which I have coupns at the beginning of the transaction so they can be processed in one shot. The cashiers seem to appreciate this and I like to make it as trouble-free as possible for them.

I’m fairly new to couponing and still don’t understand what is meant by a “hidden portal”. If it’s hidden how can I know where to click on the page? Thanks for all the great info you provide.

Hi Susan – thanks for dropping a line – we love hearing from our community members! The “hidden” portals are secret links that are released through facebook, or e-newsletters from a brand, or other promotional communication (I don’t know about you, but when i first heard the term I was picturing some kind of Where’s Waldo searching game on the coupon page! I’ve only been couponing since last January so I’m not too far ahead of you!) The hidden portals have their own websaver.ca link (with a bunch of /portal/brand … codes at the end) and after you select the coupons in the hidden portal, you’ll be directed to the main websaver page when you click on “get my coupons”. You can then add more from the main page easily. Adding more “hidden portal” coupons, on the other hand, takes a bit of work and we’ll be covering those step by step instructions in our upcoming WebSaver 201 article. In reality, the hidden portals are exactly the same as the brand portals at the bottom of the WebSaver page but they’re no longer “hidden”. That’s a fairly new feature to WebSaver.
Hope this helps for now – and welcome aboard! ~christa

Thank you so much for clearing that up for me! I thought I was missing out on something on the main coupon page and was sort of playing Where’s Waldo, clicking in random spots to see what would happen. Won’t be doing that anymore. LOL
