My love affair with FREE chicken continues …. this time I was able to use 3 layers of savings and ended up being paid to take this product out of the store. Yes, coupon stacking AND overage. In Canada!
Walmart had a 30% reduction on Maple Leaf Prime Chicken Breast Fillets that were due to expire in 48 hours. And, as is often the case with new products on the market, there was a $2 OFF peelie coupon on the package (those stickers that say SAVE NOW have UPC codes on the back – it pains me to see customers and cashiers neglect to peel, scan & save at the time of purchase).
The third layer of savings came from a WebSaver mail coupon that I ordered from the Maple Leaf Canada facebook page a few weeks ago. It has since changed to a $2 OFF coupon: order yours here.
$9.77 – 30% reduction = $6.83 – $2 Peelie – $5 Manufacturer’s Coupon = $-0.17
Evidently, I was only popping into the store for cream cheese and cucumber. Glad I grabbed my coupon binder and passed by the meat aisle. You never know when an OOP$ moment may strike!
Despite the neato peelie recipe on the pack for making home made chicken strips, these ones were given a quick dip in some Teriyaki marinade, grilled quickly on the BBQ (these cook so much faster than thicker breasts) and wrapped up with some cilantro, cucumber and cream cheese for a Sr. Kindergarten graduation party!
