Remember to ask the cashier to hit the “subtotal” button on the cash register before handing over your coupons and FPCs (free product coupons). As per Shoppers Drug Mart coupon policy, regular manufacturer’s coupons and FPCs donot come off your “subtotal” meaning that you can SAVE the value of the coupon while still using the full retail price of the item towards your minimum subtotal (pre-tax) to earn the bounus points. Store coupons, on the other hand, will be deducted from your subtotal and only the portion of the price you’re paying for that item will count towards your subtotal.
“For promotional events (e.g. for Shoppers Optimum Promotions where a customer would need to spend $50 to receive a reward), the following instances apply:
– If a vendor coupon is used, its value will count towards the promotion total meaning the value of the
coupons will be included in the event purchase threshold
– If a store coupon was used, its value will be deducted and does not count toward the promotion total
meaning the value of the coupons will not be included in the event purchase threshold.”
This policy is easy to remember if we think of the fact that Shoppers Drug Mart will be reimbursed by the product manufacturer (e.g. Gillette) for the value of the coupon, essentially making it tender. Shoppers Drug Mart won’t, however, reimburse themselves for any discounts/sales/coupons that they offer in store. And so naturally, 20x bonus points will not be applied to other points offers. Example, Buy 2 Get 1000 points” will still equal just 1,000 bonus points on your Optimum account. That’d be just crazy!
