My lucky “savings stars” have aligned and I’m excited about matching some rebates, coupons and sales tomorrow and throughout next week. I can’t say that I’ve prepared my entire shopping list though, especially since it changes throughout the week as flyers become available, the Checkout 51 offers roll over, Flyer on Fire is updated, and new coupons are released which I can print or order to arrive in the mail.
Today I received an envelope from WebSaver in the mail with some coupons to match up to sales and rebates to add an extra layer of savings. While it’s a far cry from “extreme couponing”, combining these layers of savings adds up bit by bit and is certainly part of our family’s savings strategy which permits me to stay home with the kids as a SAHM – “Save-at-Home-Mom”, that is!
Having multiple copies of coupons also helps (I always re-order mail coupons whenever they’re available, even if I haven’t redeemed the last ones) as well as being able to submit multiple receipts for Checkout 51 (we have 2 smartphones and an iPad in our household).
Here are a few of the deals I’ve flagged as “gotta get!” so far:
- Glade Sense ‘n Spray Refills $.49 each! I’m going to buy 2 at Walmart for $3.97 and use one of the many Buy 1 Get 1 FREE coupons that I have in my binder (gosh, another one arrived in the mail from WebSaver today!) Then I’ll take a picture of my receipt to apply for the $3 Checkout 51 rebate that starts Thursday morning. Considering that I got the starter kit for FREE using a Save.ca $5 OFF coupon at Giant Tiger when they were on sale for $4.97 this past winter, this new system is working out to be really inexpensive. I love the lavender vanilla scent the best! There are numerous Glade coupons available to print or order.
- Alcan aluminium foil $.49 for a 7.62m roll! These are on sale for $.99 at Food Basics until May 16th and at Sobeys starting on May 17th. The Checkout 51 rebate for $.50 kicks in tonight at midnight so I’ll try to pick one up asap … I suspect this offer will be snapped up quickly since we’re getting into BBQ season and foil is a favourite of extreme couponers and stockpilers (think “can be stored indefinitely”!) Plus, now that Checkout 51 is available for Android, more users are applying for multiple rebates (we have 2 smartphones and an iPad in our household and can apply for each rebate 3 times, for example).
- Ziploc Sandwich Bags 40’s FREE! These are on sale this week for $.99 at Food Basics (until May 16th) and next week (starting May 16th) at Maxi (Quebec store in the Loblaws family). Another $1 OFF any Ziploc product coupon arrived in the mail today from WebSaver which will make this product FREE! The WebSaver coupon is still available to print or order. If I’m unable to find any this week (the 40’s often sell out and Food Basics doesn’t offer rain cheques), I’ll price match the Maxi sale at Walmart next week using my iPad and the Reebee app since I’m not likely to have a Quebec flyer bag this week (time for coffee with a friend and another Tear Pad Tour soon, though!). I love these OOP$ opporunities – that’s our way of saying $0 Out of Pocket!
- Rice Krispies $.98 for a 340g box! Kellogg’s cereals are on sale at Real Canadian Super Store (RCSS) part of the Loblaws family of stores starting on Friday, May 17th for $2.98 and I’ll apply for $2 back from Checkout 51 which starts tomorrow. I have a $1.00 OFF any Rice Krispies coupon in my binder from the hidden WebSaver portal but sadly it expired March 31st. Drats! Still, paying less than a dollar for a box of Rice Krispies will make several trays of treats to take to t-ball practice this spring. I’ll throw in some seeds and dried fruit from Bulk Barn (using the next available $3 OFF when you spend $10 coupon, of course!) to give our future baseball stars on “Team White” a little boost! (note to self: add bleach to shopping list… whoever came up with the idea of giving 5 yr old boys a white t-shirt isn’t getting one of my Rice Krispie treats. Or at least not a corner piece with extra gooey spots!)
There will no doubt be numerous other HOT deals coming up this week, especially for those who receive the flyer insert coupons. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and share tips and tricks here in the blog section and over on the Canadian Coupons facebook wall.
