Black Diamond Basket 2The sticker looks more like a contest ad than a headz-up about coupons, but right now in stores, specially marked packages of Black Diamond cheese slices have $10 in Coupon Savings inside.  I appreciate that the company printed the expiry date on the outer label (Dec 31, 2013) but when we don’t know exactly what the coupons are for, it really is a bit of a  gamble.   Sometimes the $10 in savings is divided into $7 or $8 off a small electrical appliance and then some lower value ones like $.50 OFF another Parmalat product.   Not so this time!  My mom actually pointed these coupons out to me and I was pleasantly surprised at how well they match some of the items on our family shopping list.  Hi Mom!

Here are the Canadian Coupons that you’ll find inside the specially marked Black Diamond packages:

  • black diamond coupons$1.50 OFF when you purchase any 2 Black Diamond Slices (500g) – this is what’s on sale for $1.88 at Food Basics (Ontario) this week.  What a deal!
  • $1.00 OFF any SpongeTowels Ultra 6-roll pack or larger
  • $1.00 OFF any 3 Astro kik drinkable yogourts (200mL)
  • $1.00 OFF any Black Diamond Cheestrings (16 or 28 pack)
  • $1.00 OFF any Astro Original Greek yogourt (500g, 4x100g, 2x200mL)
  • $.500 OFF your total purchases at www.hamiltonbeach.ca  (yes, the requisite small appliance coupon!!)

Each specially marked package also comes with a PIN code to enter to WIN a Chevrolet Traverse or 1 of 15 Hamilton Beach Prize Packs valued at $210.  The contest closes on August 31, 2013 but keep in mind that the manufacturer’s coupons inside don’t expire until the end of the year so it’s well worth scooping up a pack or two even after the contest closes.

I only paid $1.88 for the first pack and then looped back through the store to SAVE $1.50 when I picked up another 2.  For all 3 packs, the out of pocket average was $1.38 per package and only cost me an additional 3 minutes of my time. Considering that these are regularly priced over $4 at Food Basics (and even higher elsewhere) I was more than happy to devote the extra few steps!

Tip:  keep a small pair of folding scissors in your purse or wallet for these “on the spot” coupon clipping missions!

When I win the Chevrolet Traverse (sorry, I’ve called dibs!), I’ll have to come up with a clever (err cheesy!) vanity plate to remind myself that it all came from a pack of $1.38 cheese slices!  Any suggestions?!

Happy Couponing!
