I’m happy to report that my love of FREE chicken is burning brighter than ever!  Tonight I successfully redeemed 5 of our $5 OFF Maple Leafe Prime Chicken coupons that were inside our Portions packs in December, and came home with 3.11 kg of Boneless Skinless chicken breasts for $0 Out of Pocket – OOP$!

We’d had the coupons for a while and were biding our time while checking the flyers each week.  Food Basics had the packages on sale this week for $5.00.  Happy dance!  We ran some errands at Walmart the other night and learned that we couldn’t Price Match them there because the Food Basics flyer did not indicate the size/weight of the packages.  Good to know for future trips.

This evening I was thrilled to see a shelf full of the chicken breasts tonight at our local Food Basics.  There was a sizeable difference in the weight of each pack so it took me a few minutes to sort out the 5 largest ones:  .546 – .564 kg – normally priced at $8/pack at Food Basics.

Checked out, et voila!  Didn’t even have any taxes to pay!

Freezer space is always an issue for us, so I immediately labelled 3 ziploc bags and separated the trays out into portions that our family will go through and tucked them into the the bottom of the freezer.  Why the bottom?  Because quite frankly, we still haven’t made our way through all of the other FREE chicken  (read about it here) that we got in December!  Thank goodness it’s BBQ season!
