Wednesdays are quickly becoming my favourite day to shop at Shoppers Drug Mart! They’re offering printable Canadian Coupons to repeat (or sometimes BETTER) the deal from the previous weekend. And by Wednesday, the shelves are often fully re-stocked and there are no weekend crowds to battle with!

This week’s Canadian Coupon for Shoppers Drug Mart is for 8,000 Shoppers Optimum Points when you spend $50 or more on almost anything in the store (see coupon for the list of usual exlclusions like tabacco, stamps, tickets, etc). And while the ads indicate that 8,000 points are worth $10 when redeemed, we all know that if you wait until one of the Spend Your Points events, they’re worth at least $19.20. That’s the equivalent of saving 38% without even factoring in sale prices or manufacturer’s coupons.

Reaching the $50 minimum threshold is really easy for me since our local Shoppers Drug Mart has the lowest prices in town for some of our family’s grocery staples:

  • Milk $3.89 x 3 = $11.67
  • Eggs $2.29 x 2 = $4.58
  • Bread $1.99 x 2 = $3.98
  • Almond Fresh $3.99 (less $1 Canadian Coupon) x 2 = $5.98

That’s already $26 towards the minimum $50 threshold.  Throw in some personal products or items that are on sale & match coupons in my binder, and I’m almost ALWAYS able to reach the minimum $50 without adding things to my cart “just because”.  And even if I were only able to get up to $40 on items that we really need, (my) savings logic dictates that I should add a few “just because” treats since I’m getting back $19.20 in points that we’ll use towards more grocery staples and personal products – otherwise I’d be throwing away FREE money.  Are you and I on the same train of thought?

As usual, I’ll puchase a Shoppers Drug Mart gift card for $60 on the way into the store and earn 600 more Shoppers Optimum Points for that purchase.  I’ll then use the gift card AND my $10 Shoppers DrugMart card that I earned during their most recent Double Double promotion to pay for my purchase.  All in all, I should get 9100 points worth $21.84 towards FREE stuff at the next Spend Your Points event.

Happy Couponing!
